Information that Microsoft admits to the failure of its browser and decides to use a competitive Chromium engine, has received a lot of publicity. But so far information on the Edge 2.0 was like a cure. To this day, because although the new version of the browser is still in the middle of internal testing, the Neowin portal editors managed to get screenshots of the new Edge.

Looking at these screenshots, you can come to one conclusion – Edge really will be a twin brother of Chrome. At least this is how it looks at the current stage of testing. The interface of the browser looks really familiar, although there are also some visible differences. The address bar, tabs and extensions – it all looks pretty much the same as in Chrome. Although the default search engine is, and how else … Microsoft Bing.

The extension menu is particularly interesting. Microsoft has promised that it will be one of the key features of the new Edge, which thanks to the new engine is to support the extension for Google Chrome. Thus, Microsoft will get rid of one of the biggest defects of the original Edge. By default, this support will not be active, but we will be able to enable it manually in your browser settings.

Is this what the new Edge will look like in the last resort? This can not be determined. Everyone will be able to find out about it as soon as Microsoft starts open tests. This is the first look at Edge 2.0 and until the launch the browser can go through a lot of metamorphoses.

Will Microsoft decide to approach an old competitor, and now in a sense an “ally” and will Edge become a new version of Chrome? Or maybe the giant will finally return to the roots and decide to leave the current design. Time will show, and for now we know one thing – this agreement brings mutual benefits, an example of which is the better integration of Google Chrome with Windows 10.
